IMMUTOL is the most proven, most effective immunity strengthener available anywhere. IMMUTOL capsules contain only highly purified Norwegian Beta-1,3/1,6-Glucan (NBG), carefully extracted from the cell walls of baker’s yeast.
1. Why is IMMUTOL good for your health?
Your immune system is under constant attack from virtually millions of microbes. Every second you exist, some opportunistic invader (bacteria, virus, fungi and parasites) is trying to make a meal of your body. If properly functioning, your immune system keeps these relentless invaders at bay with its incredible array of weapons. But, because the enemy is armed with its own arsenal, the balance of power is tenuous. Any slight change, be it increased stress, overwork, pollution, poor diet, even weather shifts, can lower your resistance and tip the scales in favor of the enemy. When the enemy gets the upper hand, the results can range from mild discomfort like a cold to serious disease, even death.
Because it can enhance your immune system and significantly raise your level of resistance, IMMUTOL acts like an insurance policy against changes that compromise your immune system. You might say that IMMUTOL helps an already good army to become a great army whose sole purpose is to defend your health.
2. How does IMMUTOL strengthen immunity?
The Norwegian Beta Glucan (NBG) in IMMUTOL binds specifically to a 'receptor molecule' found on the surface of specialized white blood cells (macrophages, granulocytes and natural killer cells). These cells are the frontline of defense when animals or humans suffer from microbial attacks. The NBG receptor on the surface of specialized white blood cells has been retained throughout evolution and is found in all animal groups from the simplest invertebrates to man. Therefore, NBG has the same basic biological effect in the whole animal kingdom.
When the receptor is engaged by NBG, the cell becomes more active in engulfing and digesting antigens while simultaneously producing substances that kill bacteria. White blood cells activated by NBG also produce signal molecules called cytokines. These molecules stimulate the formation of more white blood cells and send messages to B- and T-cells, enhancing their capacity to produce antibodies and mobilize the defense against specific disease organisms
Activation with IMMUTOL results in enhanced overall resistance to all possible infectious agents (virus, bacteria, fungi, parasites). Due to its very basic mode of action, IMMUTOL affects a number of different biological processes, including not only disease resistance, but also wound healing, repair of cells and tissues damaged by ultraviolet light, arthritis symptoms, and more!
3. What does it mean that Norwegian Beta Glucan (NBG) is a beta-1,3/1,6-glucan?
In order to answer that question, we have to give you a short course in chemistry. Glucans are high molecular substances that are composed of many glucose molecules linked together into different structures. They comprise a great variety of substances common in nature (for instance starch, cellulose, and glycogen), most of which cannot activate the immune system.
The common feature of beta-1,3-glucans is a chain of glucose molecules linked together in so-called beta-1,3-linkages (the 'backbone'). Beta-1,3/1,6-glucans are the only glucans capable of enhancing immunity. These are beta-1,3-glucans with 'branches' attached to the backbone, radiating outward like the branches on a tree.
Further complicating immunity enhancement are the great structural variations among beta-1,3/1,6-glucans and, therefore, great variations in immune enhancing ability. The frequency and nature of side-chains affect the ability of the glucan to mediate binding to surface receptors on phagocytes and natural killer cells. They are vital for the effectiveness of the glucan as an immunostimulant.
4. How do you justify the claim that IMMUTOL is superior to other beta-glucan products?
In order for beta glucan molecules to be effective as immunity enhancers, a specific molecular structure and branching between glucose molecules is required. Biotec Pharmacon developed and patented breakthrough processes for extracting the beta-1,3/1,6-glucan present in baker's yeast without damaging the branching points, ensuring that the side chains on the purified NBG molecule remain intact. Before Biotec Pharmacon's amazing extraction method, there was no way to obtain beta-1,3/1,6-glucan without damaging the delicate branches.
While other manufacturers attempt to duplicate the successes of Biotec, their yeast-derived beta glucans fail to meet the same standards. In nearly every comparison study, long branches in competing products were either severely damaged or non-existent. Without the extended branching, macrophage and other white blood cells cannot be activated to destroy disease-causing microbes and initiate the chain-reaction response of the entire immune system.
Other glucans, such as beta-glucans from barley, oats and other grains, contain a large proportion of b-1,4-linakges and are ineffective with regard to macrophage activation.
Most importantly, NBG has a strong foundation in research on its basic mode of action. Its efficacy and safety has been well documented in more studies than any other natural immunity enhancer.
5. How does IMMUTOL compare to echinacea?
NBG has a well-defined chemical structure, its mode of action is known in great detail on a molecular and cellular level, it is non-toxic, and its efficacy to enhance disease resistance and health is very well documented. In comparison, Echinacea products are crude mixtures of many different substances, some of which have been known to activate macrophages. The components that are probably responsible activating macrophages are a group of polysaccharides called arabino-galactans. Direct comparisons in macrophage activation of equal weights of IMMUTOL and Echinacea show that IMMUTOL is 10 to 200 times more active.
6. Can IMMUTOL cure a specific disease?
NBG supports the healthy functioning of your immune system by activating your macrophage cells. This means that IMMUTOL does not fight a specific disease directly, but rather helps to make your most powerful disease fighter (your immune system) function at an optimal level.
7. Why is it particularly important for people over 40 to strengthen their immunity?
The effectiveness of immune functions gradually deteriorates over time. By age 40, the immune response has already begun to lose strength. As aging progresses, the ability of the immune system to successfully defend against invaders continues to decline.
The immune-senescence process is thought to cause increased susceptibility to infectious diseases, less resistance to cancer, and possibly cause autoimmune diseases. IMMUTOL® may counteract the effects of aging on the immune response by giving a boost to the white blood cells, initiating a chain-reaction response throughout the entire immune system and strengthening your ability to fight off disease.
8. Could nutrients or drugs influence the effect of IMMUTOL?
There are no nutrients that counteract the effects of NBG and no known adverse effects in combination with pharmacological drugs. Additionally, numerous scientific studies demonstrate that IMMUTOL markedly improves the efficacy of antibiotics. This is easy to explain. Antibiotics suppress the aggressiveness of bacteria while NBG strengthens the body's own ability to combat them.
9. Is there any known toxicity or negative side effects of taking IMMUTOL?
There are no known adverse effects when IMMUTOL is taken in conjunction with pharmacological drugs or herbal remedies. In fact, beta-1,3/1,6-glucan has been shown to enhance the effect of antibiotics.
Years of scientific research confirm that IMMUTOL is one of very few immune stimulants that combine the positive effects of a general immune enhancement with no known toxic side reactions. Moreover, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) gives beta-glucan derived from baker's yeast extract a GRAS rating ('Generally Recognized As Safe'). In order to acquire this rating, no known side effects or adverse reactions can be associated with the substance or from combining it with other compositions.
10. Can IMMUTOL cause over-stimulation of your immune system?
Even after exposure to NBG, the macrophage stays in a resting mode until the presence of a foreign invader (virus, bacteria, fungi, cancer, parasites, etc.). So the macrophages are not running at 'full engine' all the time, the activation merely prepares them for quick attack.
It is nevertheless understandable that over-stimulation is a concern to many people because it is common knowledge that sufferings like asthma, allergy and arthritis are all due to an overreaction of the immune system. However, such reactions are more accurately the result of an 'inadequate interpretation' rather than an over-reaction because the immune system responds to non-real threats from substances present in food and the environment as if they were real infections. Research demonstrates that NBG not only activates the immune system but also 'teaches' it to distinguish non-real threats from dangerous infections.
Experiments with laboratory animals examine whether continuous exposure to NBG reduces the animal's ability to respond to vaccine antigens (a kind of immune exhaustion). The results are very clear. Even after continuous administration of NBG for over half of their expected biological life span, the animals maintained the same ability to respond to vaccine antigens.
11. Can people who are sensitive or allergic to yeast use IMMUTOL?
The answer is YES - because those components in yeast that may cause allergy are completely removed during the extraction of NBG. NBG is in itself non-allergenic.
The most prominent allergens in yeast are the mannose-proteins. Because they cover the surface of yeast cells, these proteins are completely removed during the NBG extraction process. Nevertheless, purified NBG contains some residual protein, but they are proteins normally present inside intact yeast cells. During the extraction of NBG, they are partly degraded so they no longer resemble the proteins originally present in the yeast. Therefore, the body will not recognize these residual proteins in NBG as of yeast origin and will accordingly not respond to them by an allergic reaction.
